Trendsetter f/ Zaytoven, Young Dro & 1K Phew - "Lord Jesus"

Music has power. Few people know that as well as Trendsetter Sense. The DJ and producer’s role as a founding member of The Aphilliates and a pioneer of the Gangsta Grillz series paved the way for the mixtape scene and elevated Atlanta as a hip-hop hotbed. Now, Trendsetter Sense has a new mission and purpose for its craft. “Music is a vibration,” he said. “My responsibility is to follow what God called me to, and that is to be a vessel to shine a faith-filled experience to people, but still doing it on a high mainstream level.” He is working with Reflection Music Group for his upcoming music releases. The first single of the partnership, the high-energy “Lord Jesus” featuring 1K Phew and Young Dro and produced by trap legend Zaytoven, drops on January 23. RMG CEO Doc Watson and Sense bonded over their shared understanding of how art impacts culture. “Sense has been a major influence in hip-hop, especially in the ATL,” Watson said. “He has a vision that matches ours when it comes to creating content that merges and stretches the culture, creating more space for us to grow.” “Doc is so highly respected,d and he understands the music. I saw that he cared, and I saw that he understood where I came from and what my mission was,” Trendsetter Sense said. “The RMG team doesn't really boast about what they do. They just deliver. It just felt right, and it felt calm and organic.” Trendsetter Sense is using his skills and experience that he’s gained from more than two decades in the industry while embarking on this new chapter. He’s worked with some of the top names in the game, including Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Future, Lil Jon, and Outkast, to formulate the sound and swagger of The South. He will host the second Chosen Journey set with DJ Five Venoms at internationally-acclaimed hip-hop festival Rolling Loud in May with Caleb Gordon, 1K Phew, WHATUPRG, Nathan Davis Jr., Anike, and Kijan Boone. Last year’s showcase was the first Christian hip-hop set in Rolling Loud’s history. “The first one was amazing,” Sense said. “It’s the biggest hip-hop festival in the world for a reason. It’s a time of excitement, a time to really show God’s kingdom how powerful it is to represent Him. He’s calling it, and we’re just here to be stewards.” He also hosts the Chosen Journey Show on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 and SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation, where he talks about faith with award-winning artists and cultural influencers like T.I., Kirk Franklin, Killer Mike, Yolanda Adams, Lecrae, Childlike CiCi and Chilli from TLC. Trendsetter Sense now serves as a bridge between the mainstream world, where he refined his craft, and the Christian music scene, where he explores his own faith and encourages others in theirs.
